Course 2 – 19, 20, 21st February and 19th March 2018.

Following the removal of statutory supervision from midwifery, this programme delivers the new A-EQUiP model.

The A-EQUiP model has been developed by NHS England and Health Education England to prepare midwives to become Professional Midwifery Advocates (PMA’s)

This model supports a continuous improvement process that aims to build personal and professional resilience of midwives, enhance quality of care for women and babies and support preparation for appraisal and professional revalidation.

Brief course Content

Introduction and history – “how we got here”

Mind the Gap

Exploration of the A-Equip model -Restorative clinical supervision, Quality improvement, Education and development, Monitoring, evaluation and quality control

Facilitators and barriers

Compassionate resilience

Leadership qualities

Care Quality Commission (2013) Key Lines of Enquiry

Implementation and making it work in practice


Learning / teaching activities will be facilitated by:-

Group work

Presentations and discussions


Power point presentations

Role play

Reflective discussions



The expectation is that students will attend all four days.
