The Sports Injury Clinic at the University of Hull

The Sports Injury Clinic at the University of Hull

The Health, Injury and Performance Hub at the University of Hull is available to University of Hull staff, students and the surrounding public community. We provide student-led, patient centred and evidence-based care to Hull and the wider community.

Undergraduate Students from the Sports Rehabilitation degree work within their scope of practice, whilst under supervision by the qualified Hub Manager, or a member of the Sports Rehabilitation lecturing team. This ensures a safe and professional practice is maintained.

Who are Sport Rehabilitators?

A Graduate Sport Rehabilitator (GSR) is a graduate level autonomous healthcare practitioner specialising in assessment, musculoskeletal injury management, exercise-based rehabilitation and injury prevention. More information can be found at the BASRAT website.

Am I suitable for this service?

All assessments and treatments will be prefixed by a subjective interview regarding a full history of the presenting complaint. This will include gathering information on past medical history, medications, hobbies and interests and a series of contraindications.

What do we offer?

  • Injury assessment- This includes a subjective history of how, when and where the injury happened, previous injury/medical history followed by a hands-on assessment of the injury itself. An evidence-based approach and consideration of your personal circumstances will inform the injury management approach.

  • Sports massage – If this treatment is appropriate for you, some benefits can be to relieve anxiety, increase relaxation, reduce muscle tension, reduce fatigue, reduce delayed onset muscle soreness, increase range of motion.
  • Rehabilitation and exercise prescription– We aim to help a client recover to their best level of fitness following an injury. Our rehab includes discussion and explanation of appropriate exercises, training intensity, volume and frequency, with ongoing guidance and support
